Chelsea could be about to beat bitter rivals Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of a highly-rated youngster, with the Daily Mail reporting that Brighton’s Zak Sturge could sign his contract with the club in the coming days.
Thomas Tuchel has been busy adding to his Chelsea squad this summer as the club have already brought in Raheem Sterling and Kalidou Koulibaly.
But the Blues have also got one eye on the future as they have signed goalkeeper Eddie Beach from Southampton and look set to bring in the 18-year-old Sturge.

Chelsea set to beat Tottenham to signing Sturge
The club will have to pay Brighton a minimum fee of £500,000 in compensation if they manage to finalise a deal for Sturge, fending off competition from Antonio Conte and Jesse Marsch’s clubs.
The young defender still needs to undergo a medical in order to complete the deal but Chelsea are hopeful it will get over the line.
Sturge showed plenty of promise while playing for Brighton’s Under-18’s side last season and has attracted interest from big clubs as a result.
With Chelsea’s blossoming academy showing promising youngsters can work their way up to the first-team, it’s no wonder Sturge opted to join the Blues.
Mason Mount, Reece James and Trevor Chalobah are just the recent examples of Chelsea academy products who have made the leap to the first-team.

Conor Gallagher has also returned from Crystal Palace after a brilliant loan spell last season and looks set for a big year ahead under Tuchel.
Chelsea are clearly an attractive proposition for youngsters at the moment and that’s probably down to the above players being given opportunities at the club.
