Chelsea are ready to beat any offer Arsenal make for Shakhtar Donetsk star Mykhaylo Mudryk, with The Independent reporting that they have made that clear in the race for the 21-year-old.
The battle for Mudryk appears to be heating up. For much of the last few weeks, it had appeared that the Ukraine international was destined for the Emirates.

In fact, reports from The Sun have suggested that Mudryk has agreed personal terms with Arsenal. He is ready to sign a five-year deal worth £120,000-a-week, making him one of the highest paid players in Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Chelsea plan to trump any bid Arsenal make for Mudryk
However, Chelsea have been looking to throw a late spanner in the works. ESPN reported on Tuesday that the Blues will hold talks with Darijo Srna about Mudryk this week.

And it seems that Graham Potter’s side are determined to get a deal done. The Independent reports that Chelsea have made it clear that they will trump any bid Arsenal end up making for Mudryk.
Shakhtar want £88 million for him. Arsenal meanwhile, value him at around £70 million. So that provides an insight into how much the Blues are going to have to be prepared to spend to beat the Premier League leaders to his signature.
It would be a big blow for Arsenal if they missed out on Mudryk. They will obviously have other targets in mind. However, it feels quite clear that most of their eggs are in the one basket.
So if he heads elsewhere – and to another Premier League side – there will be huge pressure on Edu to find another target.
Arsenal have the opportunity to achieve something incredible this season. The fans will be devastated if not strengthening in January costs them in the title race.
