Report: Chelsea make their move to rival Arsenal in race to sign Victor Osimhen
Arsenal will now face competition from Chelsea if they wish to sign Lille striker, Victor Osimhen this summer.
The 21-year-old Nigerian is one of Europe’s hottest properties after a fine season over in Ligue 1. The forward has bagged 13 times in the league, with a further five assists further enhancing his reputation.

Arsenal have been credited with an interest in Osimhen. However, the latest reports from Le10 Sport suggest that Chelsea are now also throwing their name into the hat to land the striker.
The Blues, fresh out of their transfer ban, are expected to be busy in the market this summer. The likes of Willian, Pedro, and Olivier Giroud all face uncertain futures at ‘The Bridge’.
That leaves a spot open in their attack, with Frank Lampard keen on taking the pressure off of Tammy Abraham.

Osimhen, then, could be the perfect signing. The youngster has built a reputation as a powerful and pacey striker who Chelsea could well compare to former hero, Didier Drogba.
Arsenal, meanwhile, will be desperate to land Osimhen. The Gunners are set to lose Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and will be keen on getting a replacement as soon as possible.

There’s no doubt Osimhen is quite the talent. There already seems to be a transfer scramble ensuing and it’s a little surprise really given his form.
However, the problem for both Arsenal and Chelsea could be the fee Lille want.
It’s been reported previously that the French outfit could demand around €100m for Osimhen. After selling Nicolas Pepe for over £70m last year, Lille will fancy their chances of landing a similar fee.
Arsenal, in particular, might struggle to meet that demand. Chelsea, on the other hand, could well go all out to back Frank Lampard and could hold the edge.
