Chelsea could be set to do a deal with Juventus to send Jorginho to Turin while getting Bosnian midfielder, Miralem Pjanic, in return.

The former Roma midfielder has been an integral part of the Juventus squad for a number of seasons now.

However, former Chelsea manager, Mauro Sarri, is now in charge of the Italian giants and is a known fan of Jorginho having worked with him at Napoli and Stamford Bridge.

And according to Italian publication, Corriere Dello Sport, the Blues could well be keen to accept Juventus’ offer of Pjanic plus cash for Jorginho. (via the Mirror)

Jorginho has long been a key player for Sarri. He was successful with the Italian boss during their spell in Naples and was one of the first players Sarri signed when he took charge of Chelsea.

Frank Lampard, meanwhile, is open to reshaping his squad despite a fairly successful first season in charge.

Lampard has trusted in youth and has used Jorginho to knit things together. However, he would be getting an experienced player in Pjanic. He would, therefore, not lose out on that front if a deal was done.

Jorginho is known for his passing in the Premier League. Indeed, in his 63 PL appearances, the midfielder has attempted just shy of 5000 passes, with a success rate of just below 80%.

It was always inevitable that Sarri would come back in for Jorginho at some point. There’s clearly an affinity there between the two.

However, all is not lost for Chelsea, especially if they land Pjanic in return for Jorginho.

The Bosnian is a proven operator at the very top level. He’s played over 30 times in Serie A for Juve in each of the last three seasons, helping them to numerous titles along the way.

In terms of straight replacements, Chelsea would struggle to find one better qualified.
