Despite reports this week suggesting Gini Wijnaldum was close to joining Barcelona, it seems other clubs, including Chelsea and Juventus, are still in the mix for the Liverpool man.
Mundo Deportivo claimed this week that the Dutch midfielder was edging closer to agreeing a deal with Barca. It follows on from Wijnaldum – as yet – failing to put pen to paper on fresh terms with the Reds.
Wijnaldum’s current £90k-a-week contract ends this summer. Jurgen Klopp has been open in his hope that Wijnaldum stays put but with the weeks ticking on, it seems the former Newcastle man will move on.
But it might not be Barcelona’s deal to wrap up just yet. Marca, in a report looking at who the Spanish giants might sign, has suggested the Chelsea, PSG, and now Juventus are all in the discussion for Wijnaldum. Inter Milan, too, have been linked previously.
Wijnaldum had appeared to have his heart set on a move to the Catalan club but with so many interested parties, he certainly has a big decision on his hands.
TBR View: Wijnaldum to Chelsea? Surely not
The names of PSG and Inter are nothing new really. But Chelsea? That would be some surprise if he moved to Stamford Bridge.
Juventus are also an interesting proposition. They win trophies and the chance to play with the likes of Ronaldo and Dybala may well tempt the Liverpool man to Turin.
Barca do look the most likely, but Chelsea and Juve’s interest could throw a spanner in the works. Liverpool fans, mind, would be seriously unimpressed if their man ended up in London!
