Report: Chelsea agree deal for player who Ashley Cole absolutely loves

Chelsea have agreed on a deal to re-sign striker Romelu Lukaku from Inter, according to Sky Sports. The Belgian is the subject of a £97.5 million bid which has been accepted by the Serie A champions.

The Blues won the Champions League during 2020/21 and boss Thomas Tuchel is keen to strengthen his squad. Lukaku shone for Belgium at Euro 2020 and was bang in form during last season.

Lukaku scored 30 goals and claimed 10 assists as Antonio Conte oversaw a remarkable title win. The boss has now departed and Lukaku looks like following suit in the coming week or so.

The 28-year-old already has 15 Chelsea appearances to his name. He failed to find the net though after arriving at Stamford Bridge from Anderlecht as a youngster.

Since leaving he has played for West Brom, Everton, Manchester United and Inter, scoring bags of goals wherever he has played.

Now, he looks set to rejoin Chelsea in an astonishing deal that could seriously excite the Blues fanbase.

Lukaku is powerful, a real menace in the penalty area and boats clinical finishing qualities. He could transform Chelsea into title contenders and that will be the hope for Tuchel.

If the Blues can get this deal over the line, then it could seriously propel the club into contenders for the Premier League title.

Chelsea need to score more goals next season and signing Lukaku will certainly give them a chance of doing that.

The uncompromising striker is a proven goalscorer and this has to be seen as a coup for Chelsea.

Lukaku works tirelessly for the team and is capable of spearheading the attack on his own or as a two-pronged attack.

Chelsea fans have craved a stellar signing this summer and they might be about to complete one.

Ashley Cole has previously praised Lukaku for his quality and he’ll be delighted to see him back at his former club.
