The Independent have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur attacker Troy Parrott could be about to join Championship side Charlton Athletic on loan until the end of the season.
Parrott, 17, has been a regular fixture of Tottenham’s pre-season tour of Asia and Germany, featuring against the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid – hitting the post against the latter.
The Ireland Under-19 international broke into Spurs’ second string last season, scoring two Premier League 2 goals in 12 appearances for the north Londoners. He has scored four goals in four Under-19 caps for his country.
Now, it appears that he could be about to join newly-promoted side Charlton who are managed by former West Ham United and Leeds star Lee Bowyer. It remains to be see if a deal is completed before Thursday’s deadline.
TBR’s view – Tottenham will benefit from Parrott loan
Yes, some Spurs fans will be wondering why Tottenham are not keeping Parrott on side, with both Fernando Llorente and Vincent Janssen leaving the club this summer.
Harry Kane no longer has any back-up up front, though Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura can do a job up front. Plenty have been linked with a move as the England skipper’s back-up.
Spurs fans believe Parrott is ready, but the next step in his development is a loan move and it will be tough test for the youngster in the Championship.
