The Mirror have claimed that Championship side Bristol City are interested in bringing in Newcastle United defender Ciaran Clark this summer, as a replacement for Adam Webster.
Clark, 29, is out of favour at Newcastle with the likes of Jamaal Lascelles, Florian Lejeune, Federico Fernandez and Fabian Schar all considered above the Ireland international in the pecking order.
Indeed, the former Aston Villa defender only managed 11 Premier League appearances for Newcastle last season though he did score three times. He has two years remaining on his contract at St. James’ Park.
Bristol City may find they are not alone in their pursuit of the left-footed defender, with The Sun claiming Crystal Palace are also interested. But it appears Bristol City have joined the race and are willing to spend £7million.

TBR’s view – Raking in £7m for Clark is superb Newcastle business
Clark is a proven Premier League performer but after struggling at Newcastle over the last 12 months, he needs a move to the Championship where he is to gain regular first-team football.
Webster is set to join Brighton to replace Lewis Dunk, who is expected to be Harry Maguire’s replacement at Leicester. Webster’s gap would be filled by Clark, giving the Irishman plenty of game time to reignite his career.
But for Newcastle to bring in £7million for a player that only managed 857 minutes of Premier League football last season is superb business.
