Celtic are ready to make a move to sign Peterborough United winger Siriki Dembele during the January transfer window, according to TeamTalk.
The Hoops will face competition from Premier League outfit Wolves and Championship strugglers Derby County, with the race set to heat up as January approaches.
Dembele, 24, has enjoyed a solid campaign with the League One promotion hopefuls so far. He has found the net on five occasions and registered four assists so far during 2020/21.
Interest is set to be rife once the transfer window reopens and Celtic are preparing to bolster their forward ranks.
The Hoops also hope that signing Siriki will persuade his brother Karamoko to sign a new deal at Celtic Park.
Neil Lennon’s men drew 2-2 with Hibernian on Saturday, slipping 11 points behind their rivals Rangers in a quest to claim a tenth successive league title.
With that in mind, the boss clearly wants to give his Celtic ranks a lift in January and feels Dembele is the man to do just that.
Wolves are yet to really got going this season and Nuno Espirito Santo might want to give his side a boost too.
The Rams will be among a host of Championship admirers, although their league position could count against them at the moment.
In total, Dembele has scored 18 goals and registered 20 assists during his 90 appearances for the Posh, showcasing the versatility to play through the middle or out wide.
TBR View – Dembele could reignite Celtic title push
It’s fair to say that Lennon’s team need a boost and the flair of Dembele could certainly give things a pick me up.
The rapid performer has really caught the eye in League One this season and his versatility could be key.
Celtic have really struggled to be at their prolific best this season and need a lift from somewhere – and quickly.
Dembele is relatively raw and hasn’t yet featured at any level higher than League One.
He’d be a gamble but certainly one worth taking a chance on for Celtic as they look to really kick on during the second half of the campaign.
