Celtic are eyeing a move for Kasper Junker, according to Team Talk, with Neil Lennon keen to bolster his attacking ranks during January.

The Bodo-Glimt talisman has just led the Norwegian outfit to the title with no fewer than 27 goals in 25 games.

Junker signed for Bodo during the January transfer window and has enjoyed a sensational campaign in the Norwegian top-flight.

The Danish ace also registered 11 assists last season, with Derby and West Bromwich Albion also thought to be keen.

Junker has come of age in the last couple of seasons following a relatively slow start to his career.

After playing for several Scandanavian based teams, he is now attracting interest from Britain.

Celtic are pretty well stock when it comes to strikers. Odsonne Edouard, Albian Ajeta, Leigh Griffiths and Patryk Klimala all currently battle it out for a place.

If one of those should leave, however, Celtic will almost certainly look to step up their interest in Junker.

Signing a striker might not be a priority for the Hoops but he might offer something a little bit different.

His goalscoring record isn’t to be sniffed at and Celtic probably wouldn’t have to pay a premium fee for his services.

Junker could provide an element of risk, however.

Only twice in his career has he scored double figures and at 26 that does see him considered a late-bloomer.

He’s not the only player to ever have such a tag but Celtic might choose to monitor him closely to check last season wasn’t a flash in the pan.

The Hoops are 16 points adrift of Rangers in the SPL and are in desperate need of a lift from somewhere.

Could Junker provide exactly that?
