Celtic have become the latest club to join the race to sign Kyle Joseph, with the Daily Mirror reporting that Tottenham Hotspur are also tracking the young forward.
Joseph’s Wigan Athletic future looks to be up in the air. As reported by the Mirror, his contract expires at the end of the season. He has been offered fresh terms, but he is attracting a lot of interest.
According to the Mirror, the Hoops are battling Spurs, Rangers and Sheffield United for the 19-year-old.
Celtic and Rangers obviously boast a potential advantage over the Premier League pair. They would be able to open talks with the teenager this month regarding a summer switch.
The Mirror claims that the Latics are yet to receive any approaches for Joseph. So it remains to be seen if the Hoops or Gers do look to steal a march.
Of course, their presence in the race may tempt Spurs or the Blades to consider going to Wigan with a bid rather than waiting until he is a free agent.
Celtic have produced some real coups in the transfer market in recent years. The obvious success story involved bringing Moussa Dembele in at the end of his contract at Fulham.
Dembele was superb for the Bhoys before netting them a huge profit a few years down the line.
And Celtic may be hoping that they can once again convince a youngster to snub some incredibly attractive opportunities and opt to make the move to Parkhead.
