Celtic will reportedly be priced out of a move defender Edson Alvarez from Club America.
According to the Scottish Sun, the Bhoys look set to miss out on the enforcer after a £9million price tag was put on his head.
It is understood that the Mexico international is “certain” to exit his current club in his homeland in the summer and they will cash in on him.
The report details that the 21-year-old has been linked with Celtic, Ajax, PSV Eindhoven and Fiorentina already.
Alvarez certainly appears to be a major talent that could make the move over to Europe for next season and it would be no surprise to see him thrive.
The youngster already has 20 senior international caps for Mexico and he’s had experience in a World Cup.
He’s a versatile play that is a centre-back by trade, but has got the physicality and ability to drop into midfield too when required.
Alvarez certainly ticks a lot of boxes for Celtic and they may need to make improvements in the heart of defence next season, but reports suggest they won’t match the £9million they paid for centre-forward Odsonne Edouard last summer (Sky Sports).
