The Daily Record have claimed that Celtic’s teenage goalkeeper Vincent Angelini has decided to reject a new contract at Parkhead with his current Celtic deal expiring in the summer – and a Premier League club are looking to take advantage.

Angelini, 17, is highly-rated at Celtic – but the Glasgow-born goalkeeper has decided to reject a new contract with the Hoops and a move down south looks promising. Brighton are keen to take him on trial, before deciding whether they want him.

Celtic would require a compensation fee for Angelini, who is yet to even feature on the first-team bench at Celtic. But Brighton are unwilling to pay that fee until they have seen Angelini perform on a trial basis with the Seagulls.

Graham Potter’s side are awaiting the green light from Celtic before securing a trial for Angelini. The goalkeeper has been linked with Manchester United, Juventus, AC Milan and Lazio in recent months.

TBR’s view – Is Angelini’s potential exit a blow for Celtic?

Yes, enormously so – and that is not just because he is a top talent that has the potential to cost a pretty penny in the future, but also because Celtic, right now, are struggling between the sticks. Though it is too early, he might solve that issue soon.

Clearly, the interest in his services shows that he is a proper talent and has enormous potential at Parkhead. If Celtic lose Angelini, fans must prepare to see another of their academy products shining down south before too long.
