Celtic have been dealt a transfer blow, with QPR youngster Sinclair Armstrong set to sign a new contract with the Championship club.
According to Talksport, the teenager is close to putting pen to paper on fresh terms at Loftus Road. The move from Armstrong will, for now, put to bed any talk of a move elsewhere for the youngster.
Armstrong has been watched by Celtic for some time now. A report from Goal last month claimed that the Bhoys, along with Manchester City and Crystal Palace, had high hopes of landing the forward from QPR.
However, Talksport’s latest report appears to suggest Armstrong has made his mind up in regards to his immediate future. The youngster has impressed at under-18 level and is set to be given more under-23s games in the coming months.
For now, Celtic look like they’ll have to forget about signing Armstrong. For QPR, it gives them relief in that if they do lose the youngster, they’ll at least be able to demand a tidy fee.
TBR View: One to watch is Armstrong, he might not be at QPR too long
If the rave reviews and comments on the youngster are to be believed, then QPR won’t be able to keep hold of Armstrong for too long anyway.
The top clubs will be circling, as the likes of City and Celtic already are. And even if a fee is due to land him, it probably won’t be an issue given QPR remain a Championship club.
Armstrong is certainly one to watch though and looks to have a bright future. Just not at Celtic Park for now.
