Celtic star Jonny Hayes is reportedly in line for a contract offer at Parkhead.
According to TEAMtalk, Bhoys manager Neil Lennon is “keen” to give the 32-year-old a fresh deal to extend his stay with the Scottish champions.
It is understood that he is currently exploring his options, as his existing contract expires at the end of the season.
The report details that four clubs are interested in signing him, with Cardiff City long-term admirers of him.
Meanwhile, Burley, Stoke City and Huddersfield Town are all lining up potential moves for a pre-contract offer in January.
Hayes is a versatile player that has mainly been a winger during his career, but has often stepped up into the left-back role for Celtic.
The experienced Republic of Ireland international is so useful in the squad given his versatility and has enjoyed an excellent individual start to the season.
He’s been directly involved in four goals in 16 games across all competitions so far and has hardly put a foot wrong for Lennon.
Hayes should definitely be kept around based on his current form and offering him a new deal does make sense.
He’s shown that he can step into the XI whenever required and is the type of consistent performer you need in a successful squad.
But on the flip side he’s certainly past the peak of his career and the club should think about if he’s in the plans moving into next season.
