Wigan Today claim Celtic are showing stronger interest than their English rivals in the race to sign Wigan Athletic winger Jamal Lowe – who is one of a number of Latics stars likely to leave, following the club’s administration.

Lowe, 26, earned a £2million (WT) move to Wigan last summer from Portsmouth after he had a hand in 47 goals in 119 appearances in all competitions for the League One side. He scored 19, creating 28.

His form was decent in a Wigan shirt, too. Playing in every single one of Wigan’s 46 Championship fixtures, Lowe scored six and laid on five assists. However, due to Wigan’s financial issues, Lowe is expected to depart.

The Mail claimed in July that Cardiff City and Millwall were keen on Lowe as were Scottish champions Celtic. Now, the latest reports claim Celtic are leading the race for Lowe – with the Hoops showing stronger interest.

TBR’s view – Available on the cheap, Lowe would be a bargain

Very good in the Championship last season, Lowe is likely to be available for a smaller fee than the one Wigan bought him for due to the club’s administration. Celtic need additions out wide.

On the cheap, Celtic would be getting a player with pace, trickery, goals and assists and a player that is currently at the top of his game. A no-brainer for Neil Lennon this summer.
