According to reports in Italy, Celtic are set to finally land Roma goalkeeper, Robin Olsen on a season loan.

Reports from Tuttosport claim that Olsen is set to arrive in Scotland and complete a move that has been in the offing for a number of weeks now.

The Bhoys are desperate for a new goalkeeper after they lost both Craig Gordon and Fraser Forster this summer. Olsen, who has 36 caps for Sweden, is seen as the ideal signing, at least in the short-term it seems.

Having fallen down the pecking order in Rome, the 30-year-old stopper will be desperate for some game-time and will see a move to the Scottish champions as the perfect opportunity to get back up and running.

Olsen did make 17 appearances last season for Cagliari on loan but he is behind Pau Lopez at Roma, who also has the experienced Antonio Mirante as a back-up.

The Swede will now look to compete with fellow Celtic new-boy, Vasilis Barkas, to obtain the number one jersey at Parkhead.

Signing someone like Olsen is a good move, given his experience at the highest level and his need to play games.

Barkas will probably turn out to be a good goalkeeper and signing for Celtic but they need more than just the Greek in terms of established stoppers, meaning Olsen could be a shrewd capture.

You don’t play for Sweden so many times without having a good pedigree, while Roma is also a massive club. Hopefully, Olsen can seal the move to Scotland and play a big part for Neil Lennon throughout the campaign.
