Report: Celtic set to sign 15-goal star in January window

The Sun claim Celtic are set to complete the signing of attacker Danny Mandroiu from Shamrock Rovers, in the January transfer window.

Mandroiu, 23, has been on fire for Shamrock, with his goals and assists guiding Shamrock to the Irish Premier League title with a game to spare.

Missing just one league game all season, with one still to play, Mandroiu has had a hand in 20 goals from attacking midfield – scoring 15 himself.

He has also laid on five assists for the first-placed side, earning a call-up to Stephen Kenny’s Ireland squad earlier this year. Celtic are set to move.

His form has called Ange Postecoglou into action, having already lured Liam Scales to the club from Shamrock Rovers in the summer.

The report states a fee is yet to be agreed, but Celtic are confident the two clubs can come to an agreement. Mandroiu is out of contract in 2022.

Mandroiu to Celtic: Could he be the new Tom Rogic?

Celtic have proper options in attack, now. Kyogo is on fire as a number nine, with Jota and Liel Abada either side of him – a lethal front three.

If Celtic want a bit more strength up top, Giorgos Giakoumakis can come off the bench. James Forrest, Mikey Johnston and more are still options.

But what Celtic do lack somewhat, is a number 10. Tom Rogic is nowhere near the player he once was under the guidance of Brendan Rodgers.

Postecoglou has given him a chance, but a lack of momentum or form could see him replaced. Mandroiu could be the final nail in the coffin for Rogic.
