Report: Celtic set to recoup £3.5m fee
The Daily Record have claimed that Celtic are set to cash in on striker Patryk Klimala this month with the Polish frontman struggling to make an impact in Glasgow – as New York Red Bulls look set to end his Hoops nightmare.
Klimala, 22, earned a £3.5million move to Celtic in January 2019 after impressing in the top tier of Polish football for Jagiellonia Bialystok – where he netted 11 goals in 50 appearances. But at Celtic, he only ever netted three times.
He is an example of a disappointing list of strikers at Celtic this season – with Albian Ajeti and Leigh Griffiths both playing poorly. Odsonne Edouard has finally shown his best, but he is expected to leave the club in the summer.
But Klimala looks likely to be the first out the door. New York Red Bulls, who are managed by ex-Barnsley boss Gerhard Struber, have already signed Cameron Palmer and Andrew Gutman – and Klimala is set to join them.
TBR’s view – Brilliant Celtic business to recoup fee
The report states that Celtic could be about to rake in a similar fee to the one they spent to sign him. If that is the case, Celtic have pulled off a major coup.
A sizeable chunk of cash, it goes into the kitty for the incoming manager to spend. A striker will certainly be high on the agenda but realistically, Celtic could do with additions all over the park. An exciting summer ahead.
