Celtic are reportedly set to make their first signing of the January transfer window. Sky Sports has revealed that Jagiellonia Bialystok striker Patryk Klimala has flown into Glasgow and will undergo a medical on Monday before completing a move.

The 21-year-old has impressed in the Polish top flight this season, scoring seven goals in 17 appearances. He is regarded as one of the countries most exciting young talents and will provide Celtic with some much-needed strength upfront.

Odsonne Edouard has been in superb form for the Hoops this season but cannot carry the goalscoring burden alone. Celtic boss Neil Lennon made a move for a new striker his top priority this month and it looks like he is close to securing one.

Klimala is unlikely to come straight into the starting line-up but will provide quality back up if Edouard gets injured or needs to be rested. The Polish striker has represented his country at U-19, U-20 and U-21 level and could be a key player for Celtic in the future.

The young forward is quick and possesses impressive strength on the ball. He is considered as the heir to Lewandowski’s throne in terms of the national team and will be hungry to make an impression once the move is completed.

Signing Klimala could prove crucial to Celtic’s title defence this season. Steven Gerrard’s Rangers team are just two points behind them with a game in hand, and the Bhoys cannot afford any more slip-ups.

Having another deadly striker gives them a different option if things are not going their way. It could be the difference between winning and losing the Scottish Premiership title this season.
