Report: Celtic set £10.8million price tag for defender, amid AC Milan reports

Italian website CalcioMercato reports that Celtic have set an asking price of £10.8million for defender Jeremie Frimpong as the Dutch right-back continues to be linked with a move to AC Milan – ahead of the January transfer window.

Frimpong, 20, is just three matches shy of completing a half-century of appearances in Celtic colours since joining the Scottish champions from Manchester City in the summer of 2019. Signed on a free, he has since established himself at Parkhead.

AC Milan have continually been linked with the likes of Kris Ajer and Odsonne Edouard – but the Italians, who faced Celtic in the Europa League, now want a third Celtic player in the form of Frimpong. Talks have begun, according to the report.

Indeed, Milan – who have Paolo Maldini in place as sporting director – have opened negotitations with the player’s agent. Celtic, meanwhile, have informed Milan that any deal for Frimpong will cost £10.8million. Frimpong is said to be keen on a move.

TBR’s view – Milan would be a stunning move for Frimpong

Milan have been in excellent form this season – and Celtic know all about it. The Hoops conceded seven goals in two European outings against the Italians who sit top of Serie A, well ahead of Juventus. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is shining, despite his age.

Frimpong has excelled at Celtic but it is clear that a player of his quality and his age will not be at Celtic forever. If he gets the chance to join a side sitting in first place in one of Europe’s biggest leagues – he should jump at it. £10.8million is cheap, though.
