Peterborough United hotshot Ivan Toney has found the golden touch at London Road, with his form drawing attention from Celtic.
According to Bristol Live, the young talisman was watched by the Glaswegian giants during Tuesday’s win over Wycombe Wanderers.
The 23-year-old netted twice in the 4-0 rout to take his tally for the campaign to 19 goals in all competitions.
Celtic aren’t the only club interested in Toney. The report claims that Bristol City and Brentford also watched the player who is valued at £9 million.
Peterborough are currently eighth in the League One table and will be desperate to hang onto their star man.
Toney is clearly enjoying playing regular first-team football right now and as a result, a move to Celtic perhaps wouldn’t be the best career choice.
Odsonne Edouard is the main striker at Parkhead with 17 goals during the 2019/20 campaign.
The Hoops have also just landed Patryk Klimala and he will almost certainly act as competition for the Frenchman.
Darragh MacAnthony has a proud history of gaining significant profit on players at London Road.
According to Peterborough Today, Toney signed from Newcastle for £650,000. Although he will want to keep him for now, if the club does sell him for £9 million would once again be a masterstroke from the owner.
TBR View – Toney would almost certainly thrive in Scotland
The marksman has become a real hit at Peterborough, showcasing several attributes that could see him become a top striker.
He is scoring goals and enjoying himself right now and a move to Celtic might not come just yet.
Edouard is flying so it would seem silly to go anywhere right now and play second fiddle.
Eventually, he could be a Celtic Park hit, however.
Toney is quick, powerful and comes alive in the penalty area. Scoring goals becomes a habit and he has the determination to be a massive hit in Scotland.
Neil Lennon has been treated with Edouard’s technically sound style of play and the Posh striker could be a sound replacement.
