French website RMC Sport have claimed that Celtic have received a loan-to-buy offer from Marseille on deadline day, as Andre Villas-Boas looks to bring in a replacement for Morgan Sanson – who has since joined Premier League side Aston Villa.
Ntcham, 24, is the subject of interest from both Marseille and Newcastle United (Northern Echo) but it appears the Ligue 1 side have stolen a march in the pursuit of the ex-Manchester City star. The French ace is on the fringes at Celtic this season.
Indeed, injuries and forcing to be self-isolated have contributed to Ntcham featuring in just one of Celtic’s last 11 Premier League matches. Many have criticised Ntcham for downing tools somewhat at Celtic.
Now, Celtic have received an offer for Ntcham and it is said to be a loan-to-buy offer from Marseille – who have seemingly overtaken Newcastle in the race for his signature. Celtic’s response is unknown, but a deal is expected for the midfielder.
TBR’s view – Ntcham needs to leave Celtic
If the Hoops can offload Ntcham and get a fee in the region of £10million for the ex-Genoa loanee, then it is good business. Clearly, Ntcham wants to leave and although he has been criticised for a lack of effort – he is still a top, top player.
Certainly, at his best, he is probably worth more than £10million. But if the Hoops can organise an up front loan fee and then a permanent clause that equals that kind of figure, then they have got to let him go. Time will tell, but it is running out.
Marseille were knocked out of the Champions League in the group stages earlier this season.
