Report: Celtic receive boost in their bid to sign defender, two years left on contract
Celtic have been boosted in their bid to try sign Legia Warsaw defender Josip Juranovic because talks have reportedly progressed in the last 24 hours.
According to Sky Sports, the two clubs have recently made some progress in discussions to try arrange a deal for the 26-year-old.
The report explains that Celtic are now “close” to agreeing a transfer with Polish club Legia Warsaw.
Juranovic is reportedly “keen” on a move to Glasgow, so there is confidence from all parties a move can be finalised. He has two years left on his current contract.
Josip Juranovic a great signing if Celtic wrap it up
Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou still needs a couple of reinforcements before the transfer window shuts, especially at full-back.
Anthony Ralston, 22, has done an excellent job stepping in as the only right-back. However, the Scottish giants desperately need some senior options in that role.
Juranovic, who’s got 10 senior caps for Croatia to his name, looks like he could be a brilliant addition.
He’s enjoyed a lot of success for his club as a wing-back. Therefore, he would be perfect as an attacking right-back in the Celtic system.
The speedster has 10 assists in 40 appearances since his move to Legia in 2020. In addition, he’s got the versatility to move over into the heart of defence if needed.
