Report: Celtic planning to make offer for 24-year-old who's so similar to John Robertson
Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou is reportedly eyeing Kevin Nisbet, according to the Daily Mail.
The new Hoops manager sealed his first signing on Thursday, bringing Osaze Urhoghide to Parkhead.
Now, Celtic are looking for more new recruits ahead of their Champions League qualifiers.
And the Daily Mail claims the Bhoys have set their sights on Hibernian striker Nisbet.
Celtic are apparently begun trying to establish how much it would cost to bring the 24-year-old to Parkhead.
Hibs are reportedly holding out for £4million and, though they have no need to sell, are open to discussions.
As well as Celtic, other clubs are apparently eyeing Nisbet, including Birmingham, Nottingham Forest, Swansea, Brentford and Krasnodar.
Nisbet is set to return to pre-season training this weekend after featuring for Scotland at Euro 2020.
Celtic transfer news: Hoops going for ‘brilliant’ striker?
Craig Levein spoke highly about the striker following his goal against the Netherlands in a pre-tournament friendly.
He compared Nisbet to Hearts legend John Robertson, who scored upward of 200 goals for Hibs’ rivals.
“The young man’s got himself in a position where in that corridor the ball’s coming across the face of the goal and it’s a tap-in,” Levein told BBC Sport, via Edinburgh Live.
“Listen, I played with probably one of the best natural strikers in John Robertson, who was tiny, he wasn’t quick but he just knew where the ball was going to arrive.
“That’s what Nisbet’s got as well.
“When I looked at the situation of who the strikers were going to be and Griffiths wasn’t in the group, I always think you need a one-touch finisher in your squad.
“Somebody who you can out on and can find the right place in the box.
“He’s had a brilliant season at Hibs getting 18 goals and I think that’ll do him the world of good as well.”
