A report from French outlet Homme du Match claims that Celtic are leading Ligue 1 outfit RC Lens in the race to sign right-back Fabricio Bustos. The report claims that Celtic and Brazilian side Santos have been offered the Argentina international. It also says Celtic are leading the race to get him.
Somewhat out of the blue, 25-year-old Bustos was believed to of interest to Lens in France. But Lens defender Jonathan Clauss has chosen to stay with his current side – meaning Lens have cooled their interest. It has seen Bustos’ club, Independiente, choose to offer his services to Celtic and Santos.
Of the two, the report claims that Celtic are winning the race for a player with four Argentina caps to his name. A player that has clocked up a huge 154 outings for his current side. The report also details a fee is likely to be in the region of £3.4million, with Bustos in the final year of his contract.

Get it done – Bustos would be an incredible signing for Celtic
We are talking, here, about a player that has Argentina caps. Those Argentina caps have not come from playing in an Olympic games either – when some countries field a weakened set of players. They have come in proper international friendlies for Argentina, under Jorge Sampaoli.
Celtic need a right-back and talks for Aurelio Buta continue to drag on. But if Celtic have the chance to bring in Bustos with Tony Ralston as cover – it is a no-brainer. He can attack – with 15 assists in his 154 games for Independiente but is also defensively solid. A real coup for Celtic, this one.
