Croatian website Index have claimed that Celtic have tabled a £2.7million offer to sign Hajduk Split left-back David Colina – but the youngster’s current club want a much bigger fee if they are to sanction his exit.

The left side of Celtic’s defence has been a problem area since Kieran Tierney left the club last summer to join Arsenal. Boli Bolingoli was signed, but he has struggled – while Greg Taylor has since become first choice.

The latter impressed on Sunday but it is clear that Neil Lennon wants another left-back. Colina, 20, has emerged as a possible signing – with Celtic tabling a £2.7million offer to lure the Croatia Under-21 international to Parkhead.

However, the report states that while talks are ongoing for the ex-Monaco left-back, Hajduk want as much as £5.4million – who managed 23 senior outings this season. It remains to be seen if an agreement will be reached.

TBR’s view – Colina signing would surely see Bolingoli go?

Taylor is seemingly the club’s first-choice left-back and while Jonny Hayes has also left, bringing Colina to the club would surely see Celtic cash in on Bolingoli – who has struggled since his move from Rapid Vienna.

Going forward, Bolingoli is very strong but defensively he is poor. Taylor has been an improvement but on the European stage he is hardly the quality required. Is Colina? Unproven, but perhaps a future star.
