Celtic have reportedly made a bid to sign midfielder Shandon Baptiste from English League One club Oxford United.
According to talkSPORT, the Bhoys have made an offer in the region of £3million for the highly-rated youngster.
It is understood that talks are progressing ahead of Friday’s deadline day for the January transfer window.
The report details that Old Firm rivals Rangers are also keen, as well as Championship outfit Brentford after they missed out on him last January.
Meanwhile, Championship leaders Leeds United and also Steve Bruce’s Newcastle United from the Premier League have also been closely monitoring the 21-year-old talent.
Celtic are the team that are pushing hardest for Oxford’s young star and are trying to tempt him to Parkhead during this January window.
The central midfielder has scored some eye-catching goals for Oxford’s senior team since coming through their academy in recent years and is a well balanced player.
He’s already represented Grenada once at senior international level and looks destined to play higher up the football ladder than just the third-tier in England.
Neil Lennon’s Celtic do already have several quality options in the centre of the park within their squad, but appear to be serious about technically gifted star Baptiste.
