The Scottish Sun have claimed Darren O’Dea could be about to return to Celtic as a coach with talks underway, seven years after leaving the club in 2012 to join MLS side Toronto.
O’Dea, 32, began his career at Celtic and made his debut under Gordon Strachan in a Scottish League Cup clash against St. Mirren. He went on to make 70 appearances for the Hoops in all competitions.
Since then, O’Dea has been somewhat of a journeyman, playing in England, America, Ukraine, India and then back to Scotland. In the summer, he signed for Lowland League side East Kilbride.
It is believed O’Dea is also an Under-18’s coach at Motherwell but is willing to down tools with both clubs in order to take up a youth coach role at Celtic, replacing Damien Duff who has been promoted to the first team.

Along with the inclusion of aforementioned Duff, Celtic are beginning to form quite the coaching set-up that have a mixture of playing at the top level and a history with the Hoops.
Former Celtic man John Kennedy remains the club’s assistant manager with Duff first-team coach. Current goalkeeping coach Stevie Woods played for Aberdeen, Motherwell and St. Mirren during his time as a player.
Adding more know how to the Celtic backroom team in O’Dea is an excellent move, one that can only be beneficial.
