The Daily Record has claimed that Celtic are in talks to agree a deal with striker Odsonne Edouard, in a bid to keep him at Parkhead at least until the summer of 2021 – amid reports of interest from down south.
The report claims Celtic are desperate to keep him for another season, as he continues to shine for the Scottish champions. The French star has now scored a whopping 26 goals in 43 games this season, as well as laying on 17 assists for his side.
That stunning form has attracted the interest of Leicester City and Brendan Rodgers, as per the report – while a previous report from the Record have claimed Manxchester United, Newcastle United and Everton are also eyeing a move.
It is believed the 22-year-old is valued at £30million, but it is believed Celtic are desperate to tie him down to new and improved terms – in order to keep him in Glasgow until at least the summer of 2021.
TBR’s view – Can Celtic keep Edouard beyond this summer?
It seems like it may be difficult. Edouard is one of the best, young strikers in European football and at £30million it would not only be difficult for Celtic to turn such an offer down – but he would also be a bargain to those that can afford that price.
Given his tender age, Edouard may opt to stay at Celtic for another season. But should the former Paris Saint-Germain star want to leave, he will certainly have his pick of plenty of Premier League sides.
