Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio has claimed that Scottish champions Celtic have made an approach to sign Juventus defender Mattia De Sciglio, but the player has decided to reject a move in order to remain at Juve.
De Sciglio, 27, joined Juventus in the summer of 2017 from AC Milan for a fee £11million (ESPN) but has struggled for regular game time. He has managed just 62 Juve appearances in all competitions, and a move before Monday could be on his mind.
A 39-time Italy international, De Sciglio has enormous calibre and is considered one of Europe’s best full-backs on his day. His trophy cabinet includes three Serie A titles, an Italian Cup and three Italian Super Cups.
Celtic are in need of a left-back – with De Sciglio capable of playing on either side – and have made an approach to sign the defender in the last few hours. However, De Sciglio has rejected a move, with the defender ‘not convinced’ on the Hoops.

TBR’s view – De Sciglio good enough for most Premier League sides
So a move from Celtic is incredibly ambitious. Given that De Sciglio is on the fringes of Andrea Pirlo’s side, a move is likely this summer but for to step down from Juve to the Hoops is somewhat unlikely.
It is not apparent whether a potential move would have been on loan or permanent, but either way, De Sciglio is likely to be eyeing a move to a more prestigious club. Celtic, though, could also return with a second offer.
