Celtic reportedly have Rosenborg defender Birger Meling on their radar.
According to the Scottish Sun, Neil Lennon still wants to find more cover in this transfer window at left-back following the exit of Kieran Tierney to Arsenal.
They have Boli Bolingoli competing for the full-back role, but he’s had a difficult start to life at Parkhead with some individual errors.
It is understood that Meling is a “serious option” for the Bhoys and previously impressed against them during European matches last season.
The report details that the 24-year-old is open to a move now this summer and MLS club Los Angeles had an offer turned down last week from Norwegian club Rosenborg.
He is a left-footed defender that is an attack-minded full-bak and would certainly put pressure on Bolingoli.
Meling played four times against Celtic during European competitions and he’s popped up on the radar of the Scottish giants.
The left-back is a great attacking threat and is a great crosser of the ball, with 18 assists in 105 senior games for Rosenborg.
His experience on the European stage would be extremely handy for Lennon’s team and it does make sense to try strengthen the full-back area before the transfer window closes.
It’s too soon to write off Bolingoli’s Celtic career, but he’s looked out of form recently and Celtic need a squad to compete across all fronts.
