Celtic are monitoring Aaron Hickey’s situation at Hearts and weighing up a potential cut-price move for the left-back, while The Sun is also reporting that Crystal Palace are interested in the 17-year-old.
The Sun reports that Hearts’s players have been asked to take a 50 percent pay-cut following the season’s stoppage. And it is noted that he could even become a free agent in the future if his wages cannot be paid.
The Sun notes that the likes of Celtic and Palace had previously been put off by his asking price. However, they are now back in the running given the current situation at Tynecastle.
Hickey has established himself as one of the most exciting prospects in the Scottish Premiership.
He made his debut at the age of 16, and produced a couple of outstanding performances against Celtic last season.
Admittedly, he has gone a little more under the radar this term.
But he has got 30 appearances under his belt in all competitions since the start of the campaign.
Celtic will be well aware of his potential.
He spent time in their academy before a second spell at Hearts, and the Evening Times claimed earlier this season that the Hoops will be due 30 percent of any transfer fee he leaves Hearts for.
Of course, the Bhoys may miss out on that should he leave on a free. But Neil Lennon may not mind too much if a return to Parkhead ultimately proves to be on the cards.
