Report: Celtic, Everton and West Ham want Crystal Palace talent

The Daily Mail have claimed that 18-year-old talent Jesuran Rak-Sakyi has rejected the chance to sign a professional contract with Crystal Palace and is interesting clubs in Germany – as well as Celtic, West Ham and Everton.

The teenager is ahead of the curve when it comes to development, having already broken into the club’s Under-23 side this season. The winger had a hand in nine goals during 11 Under-18 Premier League games and that earned him a promotion.

He has since played three times in Premier League 2 for Palace, even scoring in a 2-0 win over Leeds United – who sit top of Premier League 2 Division 2. Not surprises, then, that Palace have tried to keep him – but he has rejected a new deal.

Instead, Schalke and Gladbach – knocked out of the Champions League this week – are keen to take Rak-Sakyi to Germany, with Jadon Sancho’s stunning form at Dortmund becoming an example. Celtic, Everton and West Ham are also keen.

TBR’s view – Which move is best for Rak-Sakyi?

Schalke are about to be relegated from the top tier of German football. While they are still mathematially safe, they are 11 points adrift of safety with just nine games to play. But relegation could be a boost for Rak-Sakyi.

A move to Schalke to play in a side that could be promoted in the next couple of seasons is tempting, especially as Rak-Sakyi is likely to get game time in the second tier. At Gladbach, he has no chance, given they are a Champions League side.

Celtic rarely hand younger players a chance and only did so recently after the epidemic caused them to lose numerous senior players. Everton similar, but West Ham could prove tempting – given Ben Johnson’s rise, and it would see him stay in London.
