Celtic are reportedly now in the race to sign Brighton’s colossus defender Shane Duffy, who could be on the move during the summer transfer window.

According to the Daily Mail, Premier League trio West Ham, West Brom and Burnley are all fighting for the 28-year-old’s signature this summer.

But the report claims that Scottish giants Celtic have entered the pursuit for the Republic of Ireland international and want to take him from Premier League outfit Brighton for the upcoming season.

It is understood that Celtic manager Neil Lennon has already discussed a one-year loan move with the player, who has struggled for minutes in Graham Potter’s team.

Brighton will reportedly allow the 6ft 4in powerhouse to leave ahead of next season due to the fact they have several options in the centre of defence.

TBR’s View:

Duffy, who earns £40,000-a-week (Spotrac), is available this summer and Lennon needs to try push this deal over the line.

The centre-back ended up losing his regular starting position last season at Brighton, but before that proved himself to be a consistent Premier League performer for a couple of years and had a great understanding next to Lewis Dunk.

He’s a powerful defender that could be a major success in Scottish football and would add a much-needed presence in both boxes, so securing him on loan for the season would be a massive addition.
