The Daily Record have claimed that Celtic outcast Jack Hendry is set to leave the Hoops on loan for a second time, and join Belgian side KV Oostende – with a deal expected to be confirmed on Tuesday afternoon.

Hendry, 25, has endured a very difficult spell during his time at Celtic after initially joining the Scottish champions in January 2018. He has since managed just 27 appearances in all competitions for the Hoops.

The £1.5million (Record) signing made by Brendan Rodgers more than two years ago last played for Celtic in September 2019, and has since gone on loan to Australian side Melbourne City – only to pick up an injury.

The report states that Hendry underwent his medical at Oostende on Monday, and a deal is expected to be confirmed on Tuesday afternoon. It will see the three-time Scotland international join Oostende on a season-long loan.

TBR’s view – Hendry needs games

At 25 years of age, Hendry’s career has been somewhat up and down. He has played just 85 senior matches at professional level and given his age, that is clearly not enough. The most at one club is Dundee, with just 30.

He needs to go to Belgium, rid himself of his injury issues and play week in, week out. Hendry must regain his confidence and that may allow him to return to Celtic a different player – one worth of his £1.5million fee.
