Football Ghana have claimed that Scottish champions Celtic could be about to make an offer for Deportivo Alaves striker Patrick Twumasi, after almost signing the forward last summer.
Twumasi, 25, joined Alaves last summer after starring for Kazakhstan side FC Astana. He scored 18 goals in 29 games during 2017-18, including a brace in Astana’s 4-3 win in the Champions League qualifying against the Hoops.
His excellent campaign earned a move to Alaves, but the speedy forward managed just 13 appearances for the La Liga club. Now, he could be on his way out already after failing to hit the back of the net.
It is believed FC Copenhagen want to sign the three-time Ghana international, but Celtic have not forgotten Twumasi’s impressive displays against the Hoops in the summer of 2017.
The report claims Celtic almost signed Twumasi last summer, and now they could look to do the same this time around. It seems as though Copenhagen are certainly in pole position for the forward.
Losing Oli Burke and Timo Weah has left a gaping hole in the front three, with nothing confirmed as to when Leigh Griffiths will return to the first-team fold at Celtic.
Twumasi boasts pace, strength and the ability to score plenty of goals. Indeed, his style of play would certainly suit the Scottish Premiership and the way Celtic like to play football.
With Alaves looking to sell, this could be an easy buy for the Hoops.
