Report: Celtic considering move for Manchester City ace Ko Itakura
Celtic are considering a move for Manchester City ace Ko Itakura, according to Daily Record.
Itakura moved to Manchester City in 2019 from the Japanese side Kawasaki Frontale. He’s yet to make a first-team appearance for the club and has spent the last 18 months on loan at FC Groningen.
The publication is claiming the Japan international is high on the list of targets for Ange Postecoglou. Itakura played in the J-League during the Australian’s time at Yokohama F Marinos, who are part of the City Football Group.
Postecoglou is already closing in on his first signing as Celtic boss. Hajduk Split defender Mario Vuskovic is close to sealing a move to Glasgow.

It seems as though Postecoglou is going for the tried and tested as Celtic target a move for Itakura.
The player’s time against the Greek-born coach is sure to be a factor in a potential move.
Nevertheless, the Japanese midfielder has enjoyed a brilliant 18 months in the Eredivisie. The 24-year-old has made just under 60 appearances for the outfit, helping them inside the top seven last season.
As a matter of fact, his performance earned him praise from his manager Danny Buijs.
The coach claimed he performed so well the club was doubtful they’d be able to bring him back next year. The 39-year-old lauded the far-east ace, claiming he’s a ‘top professional‘.
A move for a player you’ve previously faced and can trust is a smart move from Postecoglou.
