Celtic have reportedly been watching a young midfielder in the Israeli league.
According to The Daily Record, Ismaila Soro is on Celtic’s radar. Celtic had scouts present to watch the Bnei Yehuda midfielder in action at the weekend in the 2-1 away win over Hapoel Be’er Sheva.
Soro plays in midfield and Celtic have been watching him this season. The Bhoys have not yet decided whether to pursue a deal but he features on a list of potential targets for the January transfer window. The youngster is valued at £3m.
Bnei Yehuda signed Soro in 2018 and he has since become a first-team regular. With 55 senior games under his belt already for Bnei Yehuda, Soro is proving his worth in the Israeli top-flight and in the Europa League.
Prior to his move to Israel, the 21-year-old spent time in Moldova with Saxan Ceadir-Lunga and with FK Gomel in Belarus. Scotland could be the Ivory Coast midfielder’s fourth country in Europe if Celtic firm up their interest.
Soro is an unknown quantity so it is hard to tell whether he would be a success in Scotland. But Celtic have been doing their homework on the promising midfielder.
With Europa League experience under his belt now, Soro would probably be keen on a switch to Celtic. If he fulfils his potential, the Scottish Premiership champions might just land themselves a bargain.
