Australian outlet The World Game has claimed that Celtic have completed the signing of prolific Australian striker Stefan Nikolic, landing the 16-year-old on a three-year deal this summer.

Nikolic, 16, has been brought to Celtic after starring for Western Sydney Wanderers’ youth team this season – clocking up an impressive 36 goals in just 25 games. A compensation fee has been agreed between Celtic and the A-League side.

The global health crisis put a stop to negotiations for a while but a deal has now been agreed, and Nikolic will depart Australia for Scotland to sign on the dotted line – when isolation restrictions are lifted in the coming weeks.

He becomes the third Australian player on Celtic’s books, following Daniel Arzani and Tom Rogic in moving to the green and white half of Glasgow. He shares the same representatives as Celtic playmaker Rogic.

TBR’s view – Nikolic’s scoring rate is sensational

And he could be another gem found by Parkhead scouts. Indeed, Celtic are renowned for buying players on the cheap and selling them on for a huge fee. Virgil van Dijk, Victor Wanyama, Moussa Dembele and plenty more, for example.

Celtic’s scouts are certainly impressive and Nikolic’s strike rate is certainly an exciting sign that he could shine for Celtic. Quickly adapting to his surrounding, helping him develop and getting him into the senior side as soon as possible could see The Hoops bring in a huge fee in years to come.
