Celtic are reportedly interested in a move for centre-forward Silas Wamangituka from French second-tier club Paris FC.

According to the Scottish Sun, the Bhoys have joined the race for the 19-year-old by tracking him and manager Neil Lennon even went on a scouting mission to watch him in action on Monday.

It is understood that the likes of Fiorentina and Hamburg are keen on him, while Liverpool and Barcelona scouts have even eyed him.

The report adds that the Scottish giants are searching for a new attacker due to the fact that Oliver Burke and Timothy Weah will see their loans at Parkhead expire in the summer, but the latter could return as Paris Saint-Germain wait to make a decision.

The Scottish Sun states that Paris FC are set to cash in on their prized asset in the summer amid widespread interest and that he’s valued around £4.5million.

Wamangituka has made 27 appearances in Ligue 2 so far this season and managed nine goals in return.

TBR’s View:

Celtic could do with some fresh attacking firepower going into next season, especially if they lose two of their options from their loan spells.

Wamangituka would be a risk given his lack of senior football, but at the same time £4.5million may turn out to be a bargain if he goes on to reach his potential.

There is clearly a lot of hype around the teenager from DR Congo as clubs line up to watch him and it would be some pull if Celtic win the race for him.

He’s impressed in Ligue 2 this campaign with his pace and power at striker, which is why he could be a hit in Scotland if given the shot.
