Report: Celtic agree deal for Toulouse defender Cristopher Jullien

Celtic are reportedly closing in on a deal for Toulouse defender Christopher Jullien.

According to L’Equipe, the Bhoys have agreed a fee in the region of £7.2million for the French enforcer.

It is understood that the 26-year-old has agreed a long-term contract ahead of a switch to Parkhead and there is just the upcoming medical left to complete.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon is set to make his first major signing since be reappointed in charge and is bolstering his backline.

Jullien has just enjoyed a decent campaign in Ligue 1 with Toulouse, where he made 35 senior appearances across all competitions.

He is a no-nonsense centre-back that has a 6ft 5in frame and is dominant in the air.

The Frenchman is set to arrive to crank up competition in the heart of defence alongside the likes of Jozo Simunovic and Kristoffer Ajer.

TBR’s View:

Jullien appears to be on the brink of a switch to Scotland and will be the latest Frenchman to join Celtic.

He’s got all the potential to be a real force at Celtic and it’s smart from Lennon to start the window by strengthening a weaker area of the pitch.

The Toulouse defender is going to be playing in a team that usually dominates the ball and fortunately he’s a decent passer and calm in possession.

His £7million-plus price tag will bring some expectation, but he should have the quality to overcome that.
