Everton are reportedly interested in a summer move for Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly.

According to talkSPORT’s Alex Crook, the Toffees have a “genuine interest” in trying to sign the defender at the end of this season.

It is explained that the centre-back was valued around £89million last year, but that his fee will be “dramatically reduced” when it comes around to this summer.

Journalist Crook adds that Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti, who worked alongside the defender at Napoli, likes the player and would like to form a reunion at Goodison Park.

Koulibaly, 29, has been regarded as one of the top centre-halves in Europe during recent years, but he’s stayed loyal to Napoli amid constant transfer reports each window.

The Senegal international is renowned for his pace, strength and leadership in the backline, which is why many neutrals have wanted to see him in the Premier League for years.

TBR’s View:

Ancelotti is looking at trying to raid form club Napoli for one of their star men.

Koulibaly, who played during Ancelotti’s brief one-year reign in Naples, would be an extremely high-profile addition if Everton managed to pull off a deal for him.

The Merseyside club shocked most when they landed James Rodriguez last summer, so there shouldn’t be a surprise if they can attract more top-class talents.

One reservation over Koulibaly though would be the fact he turns 30 in June, and they’d have to be careful they didn’t pay an astronomical fee.
