Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly looking at Adrien Rabiot as a potential upgrade for Toffees midfielder Andre Gomes, according to ESPN.
The 25-year-old is currently playing for Juventus and has made 29 appearances this season, including 18 in Serie A, but just 12 of those have been starts.
Stadio Sport reported earlier this week that Andrea Pirlo is keen to offload some players in the summer as he plots his own recruitment drive, and Rabiot could be one of those offloaded.
Ancelotti is said to be a big fan of the Frenchman, having played a big part in developing the player from their time together at Paris Saint-Germain.
And according to ESPN, the two could be reunited next season at Goodison Park.
Ancelotti is keen to strengthen his midfield and Rabiot’s profile is what he is looking for as an upgrade on Gomes, claims the report.
ESPN also says Ancelotti and Rabiot have stayed in touch since working together at PSG.
Rabiot is a talented player who can play anywhere across midfield, but is especially suited to box-to-box play, with qualities that could suit the Premier League’s more physical nature.
While Gomes has been doing well, Everton’s form has slumped and Ancelotti will be eager to bring in a higher calibre of player in the summer to ensure the Toffees can mount a sustained top-four challenge.
