Report: Brighton prepared to pay £20m for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah
Arsenal could land themselves a healthy cash boost, with reports claiming Brighton are willing to pay £20m for young striker, Eddie Nketiah.
Nketiah has emerged as a top target for Seagulls boss Graham Potter, who wants to solve his club’s goal scoring problems this season. Brighton have the likes of Neal Maupay and Danny Welbeck, but Welbeck is out injured for a few weeks at least.
The Sun now claim that Brighton will pay around £20m for Nketiah, with Arsenal open to doing a deal. The young striker is among a cluster of players the Gunners are willing to sell this summer.
Having already spent around £80m and with other targets in mind, Edu knows he needs to sell a few to balance the books. Nketiah, at £20m, is certainly one who could help that.
Crystal Palace manager Patrick Vieira is also said to be keen. However, it is Brighton who are reportedly willing to pay up.
Nketiah has struggled to hold down a regular place for Arsenal. Despite a good loan spell with Leeds, he’s failed to really kick on since.
Time to move
If Nketiah is going to make it as a Premier League striker, then a move to a team such as Brighton is key. They are the perfect club for him, with a good manager, who plays good football.
Potter will develop Nketiah further, and offer him minutes. From there, it will be down to the striker himself to prove he can do the business.
For Arsenal, £20m in the coffers for a fringe player is great news as well.
