Arsenal defender William Saliba is attracting the attention of Brentford down in the Championship, as Mikel Arteta prepares to let the teenager go out on loan again.

The defender returned from St Etienne this summer and was expected to form part of the Gunners’ squad for the campaign ahead.

However, Mikel Arteta is keen to see Saliba get some more development time under his belt and is now ready to authorise a move to an EFL club for the 19-year-old.

And according to Goal, Thomas Frank’s Brentford are the latest club to show an interest in Saliba.

The report details comments from Arteta on Saliba, where the Gunners boss admits he will carefully assess and make the right decision for the Frenchman before the end of the window. Furthermore, Edu has also admitted that the club remains open to doing business.

Saliba faces little prospect of first-team minutes this term. David Luiz and Gabriel are above him, while Kieran Tierney slots in at left centre-back while Rob Holding is also back in favour.

If Saliba wants to sign for a Championship club who play nice football with an identity similar to that of Arsenal, then Brentford as as close as he’s going to get.

He’ll be disappointed not to be in the squad this season but will know as well that he needs to be patient.

Saliba should go on to have a fine career for Arsenal and this season in the Championship can only do him the world of good going forward.
