German newspaper Stuttgarter Nachrichten have claimed that Borussia Dortmund and Hertha Berlin have joined Leeds United and plenty of other clubs in the race to sign Stuttgart striker Nicolas Gonzalez.
Gonzalez, 22, has been in sensational form over the past 12 months – helping Stuttgart gain promotion back to the top tier of German football. The Argentina international scored 15 goals in 29 games during 2019-20.
That form has not gone unnoticed. TransferMarkt initially claimed Leeds were rivalling six Serie A clubs – including both Milan sides, Roma and Lazio – for Gonzalez. He has a release clause worth £18million.
But the latest report claims that while Leeds are still keen, Dortmund – as well as Valencia and Hertha Berlin – have joined the chase for Gonzalez. It is believed he wants to leave, but where he wants to go remains to be seen.

TBR’s view – Leeds or Dortmund – which club is best?
At a club like Dortmund, or either Milan side, or Lazio, Gonzalez would find he would be used as a back-up striker. Erling Haaland, Romelu Lukaku, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Ciro Immobile are some of the world’s best.
Joining any of the aforementioned European giants would see him behind those strikers in the pecking order. At Leeds, he would have Patrick Bamford to contend with – and surely he would fancy his chances
