French website Le10Sport have claimed that Borussia Dortmund are in talks to sign Celtic goal machine Odsonne Edouard this summer, as they look to bring in a replacement for Erling Haaland.
Edouard, 22, has been in stunning form for the Scottish champions – with Celtic’s ninth consecutive title being confirmed on Monday after a board meeting confirmed the 2019-20 season would end as things stand.
The former Paris Saint-Germain striker has scored an enormous 27 goals in 46 games – as well as laying on 19 assists. Celtic are keen to keep Edouard for obvious reasons, but it is clear to many that Edouard has outgrown the Hoops.
The report states that Haaland, who has a release clause worth £63million, could still be likely to leave Dortmund this summer after scoring 41 goals this term – and Edouard is his replacement. Talks are underway.
TBR’s view – Are Celtic powerless to resist Edouard interest?
The one saving grace for Celtic is that the Hoops are just one season away from winning the prized 10 in a row. Following Monday’s decision to award the club a ninth consecutive title, sees Celtic just one away from the all-time record.
Edouard has struck a chord with Celtic fans. He has his own song and the chance not only to win more silverware at Celtic next season but to go down as the attacking spearhead of a side that ripped up the record book could be tempting.
With talks underway, though, and a chance to move to one of Europe’s most-exciting sides in Dortmund, Edouard is likely to be off.
