Liverpool teenager Bobby Duncan will not be sent on loan this summer. According to The Evening Standard, Jurgen Klopp has decided to keep Duncan at the club rather than loan him out to FC Nordsjaelland.

Danish Super League side Nordsjaelland, who finished sixth last season, wanted Duncan on loan for the season. They scouted him on Monday as Liverpool’s U23 team played Chelsea and followed up with a formal loan bid.

However, Klopp wants to keep Duncan as one of his options for the season. The 18-year-old scored 32 goals for the academy teams last season after signing from Manchester City and he is tipped for a bright future.

Klopp used Duncan in pre-season, alongside fellow young strikers Paul Glatzel and Rhian Brewster. Those three are seen as future first-team players as they continue their development.

TBR’s view

Duncan is a talented young striker but he needs to show he can compete at senior level before receiving a senior call-up. However, FC Nordsjaelland was not the best option. Liverpool should be contacting Championship clubs about a potential loan move in January.

For now, Duncan just has to keep scoring goals for the U23 team. His time will come if he continues to score at an impressive rate.
