Marcelo Bielsa is in line for a £1 million a year pay-rise, with The Sun on Sunday (2/5; page 63) reporting that he is close to extending his Leeds United contract by another year.
With the end of the season looming, the thoughts of the fans are starting to turn towards Bielsa’s future at Elland Road with his contract technically set to end in the coming months.

Bielsa has done an incredible job at Leeds. They go into the final handful of games in contention for a top-half finish in the Premier League.
And it seems that he is set to have another go next year. The Sun on Sunday (2/5; page 63) reports that Leeds are close to agreeing a new deal for their head coach.

It is claimed that Bielsa – who is currently on £115,000-a-week – is set for a pay rise worth £1 million for the year.
Of course, supporters may choose to take the report with a pinch of salt at this stage.
La Nación reported last month that Bielsa is set to sign a two-year deal. However, Bielsa swiftly insisted that those reports were not correct (via The Athletic).
As The Athletic noted, Bielsa has tended to wait until the summer to sign a new contract at Leeds.
So it would be little surprise if it was still premature to suggest that he is close to signing a new deal.
But the report is certainly a positive sign. It reinforces the idea that all the signs point to Bielsa staying for another year – with a reward for continuing to take the club forward.
